Greek Cypriots Worldwide - International Edition
Following on from the success of the ‘Greek Cypriots in the UK: a Directory of Who’s Who’, the publishers are delighted to announce the launch of an international edition.
With the support of major community institutions, business and media, this international edition will raise the profile of achievements of the Greek Cypriot community world-wide.
Kyriakos Tsioupras, former editor of the Parikiaki newspaper and Former General Manager of community-based London Greek Radio, will edit the new publication and write a brief history of the Greek Cypriot community in the UK
The international edition has a growing team of contributors. Initiated by Michael Yiakoumi - a former Lloyd’s underwriter and contributor to ‘Parikiaki’, the newspaper for the Cypriot community in London and Sophie Toumazis, director of tpr - a London-based media consultancy specialising in press and public relations for the broadcast industry.
There are an estimated 600,000 people in the Greek Cypriot diaspora – almost as many as in Cyprus itself – with the majority in the UK, the US and Australia
The 300-page book will contain over 2,000 profiles, each accompanied by a passport-sized photograph. There will be 3,000 copies printed and distributed internationally through respected bookshops and online publishers.
The criteria? Greek Cypriots who have contributed both socially and professionally to the community and further afield. Entries will received via a public nomination and can also be submitted online via the nominations page
Entries are encouraged from individuals involved in politics, media, business, sports, theatre, music and the arts. We are also keen to hear from Greek Cypriots who conduct social and charitable work, and people working to overcome their disabilities. Achievers in any of these fields are welcome.
